The server extends our <a href=\"https:\/\/smartfactories.dfki.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/jmgbembkhofocfgp.png\">digital manufacturing server<\/a>\u00a0from 2016. The major impact is on societal integration of refugees, i.e., enabling mutual understanding and mediating FAQ on certain information, e.g., accommodation, asylum, culture or life in the EU. Our solution saves integration costs and speeds up time-to-job, while providing opportunities for services offered by public as well as private organizations from, e.g., education, legal counselling, job offerings, etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/smartfactories.dfki.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/ERICS_sample_context2277.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-563 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/smartfactories.dfki.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/ERICS_sample_context2277-860x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lead DFKI partner is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telekom.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deutsche Telekom AG<\/a>. It is now included as a service on handbookgermany.de<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>What is the goal?<\/strong> Refugees and migrants often lack essential information about asylum, housing, health, kindergarten, university, or work. Even when they know where and how to query this information on the Internet, this process can be very time-consuming, exhausting, disorienting, and confusing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does Eike help?\u00a0<\/strong>We have built an easy-to-use chatbot service that is able to interact with refugees\u00a0and migrants via natural language.\u00a0 In order to\u00a0do so, we designed a new user interface to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>create an empathic and engaging visual interface.<\/li>\n<li>facilitate a natural text-based dialogue between users and our chatbot during the information seeking and retrieval process.<\/li>\n<li>collect user feedback to further improve the chatbot service across time using machine learning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We developed the chatbot\u00a0<em>Eike<\/em>\u00a0that answers migrants\u2019 questions about Germany (it was launched on <a href=\"https:\/\/handbookgermany.de\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">handbookgermany.de<\/a>).
